Raul Cañibano’s Absolut Cuba announced
Next month, Austrian publishing house Edition Lammerhuber will publish a book that features the work of Raul Cañibano, well-known Cuban documentary photographer and member of Jibaro Photos. The book includes a prologue by famed Cuban author Leonardo Padura.
Cañibano’s work will be featured with some 100 photographs from all of his series’ that he has been working on for the past 30 years. The book, “Absolut Cuba” is a declaration of love by the photographer to his home country, Cuba. Cañibano’s black and white photography is known for its unique style, often times surprising perspective, and his ability to capture frames beyond the well-known.
“Absolute Cuba” features works from his series “Tierra Guajira” (Farmer’s land), showing the life of Cuban farmers, as well photos from his series “Ciudades” (Cities), “Fé por San Lazaro” (Faith in Saint Lazarus), and “Ocaso” (Sunset).
