Tierra Guajira (Country Land)

“I try to weave stories around each snapshot, and as part of the whole, reflect on the ways of life, customs, and traditions that over time may or may not last.

English version

“Tierra Guajira” is a look at the Cuban countryside and a visual homage to the Cuban peasant families. It is an anthropological project that started in 1998 is based on generational essays that show the social Cuba in which I live. My images almost always, and also in this series, have the human figure as the main protagonist and reflect the memories of my rural childhood. As a photographer, I try to weave stories around each snapshot, and as part of the whole, reflect on the ways of life, customs, and traditions that over time may or may not last. “Tierra Guajira” is made up of photographs taken in a large part of the rural regions of the Island and pays tribute to the Cuban peasant family.
